1.18.17: Save the EPA -- and the planet -- from destruction
Scott Pruitt sued the EPA 14 times. Now he gets to run it?
Today is the day that Scott Pruitt, Donald Trump's nominee to head the Environmental Protection Agency begins his confirmation hearings. Here's a quick rundown on why he's a horrible choice: he's a climate change denier, is cozy with the fossil fuel industry, opposes air pollution regulations, and got busted secretly backing energy execs and lobbyists when they sued the EPA fourteen times to roll back environmental regulations. Today's call to action: tell the Senate to stop Scott Pruitt from destroying the EPA -- and the planet.

Act: tell the Senate to stop Scott Pruitt before it's too late
Pruitt's confirmation hearings start today in the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works. Call your Senators and use our call scripts and guidance:
If you're represented by a Republican on the Committee:
It's unlikely that Republicans will stop the nomination, but they have an obligation to ask Pruitt tough questions on his record. Here's a list -- call your Senator today and tell him or her to ask one (or more):
"My name is [your name], and I'm a constituent of [Senator]. I'm calling today because I'm concerned about Donald Trump's nomination of Scott Pruitt to head the EPA. Pruitt has a terrible record on the environment, and his relationships with the oil and energy industries mean he could put profit over the future of our planet. I'd like to ask the Senator to commit to asking Pruitt this question and holding him accountable for his answer. [Add your question here.] Will you please share my message with the Senator?"
If you're represented by a Democrat on the Committee, or if your Senators aren't on the Committee:
"My name is [your name], and I'm a constituent of [Senator]. I'm calling today because I'm concerned about Donald Trump's nomination of climate change denier Scott Pruitt to head the EPA. Nobody who says that climate science isn't settled, who secretly backed fourteen lawsuits against the EPA, and who opposes regulations that protect our planet should be put in charge of running the EPA. Please, do everything in your power to stop Scott Pruitt from doing irreversible damage to our most precious resources."
